Work Modes

The AI Assistant offers two distinct work modes designed for different use cases.

Ask Mode 💬

Ask Mode is designed for interacting with your current tab content through AI.

How It Works

1. The AI receives context from your active tab (title, URL, page content)
2. You can ask questions about the page content
3. AI provides answers, explanations, summaries, or translations

Use Cases

• Summarize Articles: "Summarize this article in 3 bullet points"
• Explain Content: "Explain this technical concept in simple terms"
• Translate Text: "Translate this page to Chinese"
• Answer Questions: "What is the main argument of this article?"
• Extract Information: "List all the key dates mentioned"

Context Options

You can control what content is shared with AI:

Option	Description
Page Content	Share the full page content with AI
Selected Text	Only share text you've selected on the page
Selected Element	Share a specific HTML element you've picked

Adding Tab Context

• Click the Add to Context button to include additional tabs
• AI can analyze and compare content across multiple tabs
• Maximum of 5 tabs can be added to context at once

Agent Mode 🤖

Agent Mode enables AI to perform browser operations using natural language commands.

How It Works

1. You describe what you want to do in natural language
2. AI analyzes your request and generates appropriate tool calls
3. AI executes browser operations (with confirmation for sensitive actions)
4. AI reports the results back to you

Example Commands

Tab Management:

• "Close all duplicate tabs"
• "Group my shopping tabs together"
• "Move all YouTube tabs to a new window"
• "Discard tabs I haven't used in the last hour"

Tab Groups:

• "Create a group called 'Research' with blue color"
• "Rename the red group to 'Work'"
• "Collapse all tab groups"

Bookmarks:

• "Bookmark this page to my Work folder"
• "Find all my bookmarks about React"
• "Create a new bookmark folder called 'Recipes'"

History:

• "Show my browsing history from yesterday"
• "Clear history for the last hour"

Windows:

• "Open a new incognito window with google.com"
• "Maximize this window"

Tool Execution Modes

Tools have two execution modes:

Mode	Description	Examples
Auto	Executes immediately without confirmation	Get tabs, search bookmarks
Confirm	Requires your approval before execution	Close tabs, delete bookmarks

Confirmation Actions

When a tool requires confirmation, you can:

• Run: Execute the action
• Skip: Skip this action and continue

Switching Work Modes

In Chat Panel

1. Click the mode toggle button next to the input field
2. Select "Ask" or "Agent"

Default Mode Setting

Set your preferred default mode:

1. Go to Options > AI Assistant > Basic Settings
2. Find Default Work Mode
3. Select "Ask Mode" or "Agent Mode"

Tab Context Modes

Control how tab context is handled when switching between tabs:

Mode	Behavior
Auto Switch	Automatically switch to current tab as context
Auto Append	Automatically add current tab to context list
Prompt on Switch	Ask before changing context when tab changes
Manual	Only change context when you explicitly do so

Best Practice

• Use Ask Mode when you need to understand or analyze content
• Use Agent Mode when you want to perform browser operations
• Start with simple commands and get more specific as needed
