How to Restore Snapshots

You can restore saved snapshots through multiple entry points with flexible restoration options for different granular levels.

Where to Restore Snapshots

Side Panel

  1. Click the snapshot icon in the bottom navigation bar
  2. Browse and select any snapshot from the list
  3. Click the restore button on the snapshot card

Settings Page - Snapshot Manager

  1. Open extension settings
  2. Navigate to Snapshot Manager
  3. Find the desired snapshot
  4. Click the restore button on the snapshot card

Restoration Levels

Complete Snapshot Restoration

Restore the entire snapshot with all windows, groups, and tabs using the main restore button on each snapshot card.

Window-Level Restoration

  • Click on individual windows within a snapshot
  • Restore only specific windows you need
  • Useful when you only want part of a snapshot

Group-Level Restoration

  • Click on specific tab groups within windows
  • Restore only selected groups and their tabs
  • Perfect for restoring themed or project-specific tab collections

Individual Tab Restoration

  • Click on individual tabs within groups or windows
  • Restore single tabs to your current session
  • Ideal for accessing specific pages from large snapshots

Basic Settings

Restore Tab Positions

  • Maintains original tab order and arrangement
  • Keeps your workflow organization intact

Restore Tab Groups

  • Recreates groups with original names and colors
  • Preserves your organizational structure

Tab Lazy Loading (Recommended)

  • Tabs load basic info but stay dormant until clicked
  • Prevents memory overload with large snapshots
  • Essential for snapshots with 15+ tabs

Restoration Modes

Open in New Window (Default)

  • Creates fresh browser window for snapshot content
  • Preserves your current work session
  • Best for reviewing or referencing snapshot content

Open in Current Window

  • Adds restored content to your existing window
  • Merges snapshot with current tabs
  • Good for combining multiple work sessions

Replace Current Window

  • Completely replaces current window content
  • Closes existing tabs before restoration
  • Perfect when switching entirely to snapshot state

Password-Protected Snapshots

For encrypted snapshots:

  • Enter the correct password when prompted
  • Password verification happens before restoration begins
  • Restoration is blocked if password is incorrect

Performance Tips

For Large Snapshots (50+ tabs)

  • Always enable lazy loading
  • Consider restoring by individual windows or groups
  • Use "New Window" mode to avoid overwhelming current session

Memory Management

  • Lazy loading reduces initial memory usage by 80-90%
  • Without lazy loading, each tab immediately loads content
  • Large restorations may cause browser slowdown without lazy loading
