Tab Panel - Feature Introduction
What is Tab Panel?
Tab Panel is a powerful tab organization tool that helps you categorize and manage your browser tabs efficiently. Our attention is limited - even with hundreds of tabs open, we only focus on a subset at any given time. We typically work on stage-based tasks like fixing a bug or looking up a recipe, where focused attention is crucial. Tab panels solve this by displaying only the tabs you care about, eliminating distractions and improving focus.
The Problem We Solve
Information Overload: Modern browsers can hold hundreds of tabs, but our cognitive capacity is limited. When everything is visible, nothing stands out.
Context Switching: Different tasks require different sets of tabs. Mixing work research with personal browsing creates mental overhead.
Stage-Based Work: Most tasks have distinct phases - research, implementation, review. Each phase needs different tabs, but traditional browsers show everything at once.
Core Features
Built-in Panels (Free for All Users)
- All Tabs: Shows all open tabs across all windows
- Active Tabs: Displays only non-suspended (active) tabs, hiding background tabs that have been put to sleep by the browser
- Recent Tabs: Shows recently visited tabs for quick access
Custom Panels (Premium Feature)
Note: Custom panel creation requires a premium subscription. Free users can use the three built-in panels.
- Temporary Panels: Automatically deleted when all tabs are closed - perfect for short-term tasks
- Favorite Panels: Persist even when tabs are closed, with saved URL restoration for recurring workflows
Auto Cleanup for Temporary Panels
Temporary panels are perfect for research sessions and project-based work. When all tabs in a temporary panel are closed, the panel is automatically removed, keeping your interface clean and organized.
Flexible Panel Layout
Customize your workspace by configuring panel positioning. Right-click the panel area to choose whether panels appear on the left or right side of the tab list, optimizing your workflow based on your preferences.

- Communication Panel: 3 tabs with email and team chat
- Personal Panel: 4 tabs with shopping and news
Each panel shows only what you need for that specific context, dramatically reducing mental overhead and improving focus.
