Copying Tab Information

VertiTab provides comprehensive tab information copying features that help you quickly extract and share tab data in various formats. You can copy titles, URLs, or formatted content from single tabs, multiple selections, or entire windows.

What is Tab Information Copying?

Tab information copying allows you to extract text data from your tabs and copy it to your clipboard in different formats. This is useful for sharing links, creating documentation, organizing research, or backing up your browsing session.

1. Single Tab Copying

Basic Copy Options

Right-click on any tab to access the copy menu:

  1. Click "Copy Tab Info"
  2. Select from the submenu:
    • Copy Title - Copy just the page title
    • Copy Link - Copy just the URL
    • Copy as Markdown - Copy in [title](url) format

Advanced Copy Options (Premium)

The submenu also includes advanced copying features:

All Tabs Copying

  • Copy All Titles - Copy titles from all tabs in the window
  • Copy All Links - Copy URLs from all tabs in the window
  • Copy All as Markdown - Copy all tabs in Markdown link format

Tab Tree Copying

  • Copy Tab Tree Titles - Copy titles from current tab and its children
  • Copy Tab Tree Links - Copy URLs from current tab and its children
  • Copy Tab Tree as Markdown - Copy tab tree in Markdown format

Same Site Copying

  • Copy Same Site Titles - Copy titles from tabs with the same domain
  • Copy Same Site Links - Copy URLs from tabs with the same domain
  • Copy Same Site as Markdown - Copy same-site tabs in Markdown format

2. Multiple Tab Copying

Selecting Multiple Tabs

You can select multiple tabs using:

  • Click and Drag - Drag across multiple tabs to select a range
  • Ctrl/⌘ + Click - Add individual tabs to your selection
  • Shift + Click - Select a range of tabs from the last clicked tab

Copying Selected Tabs

Once you have multiple tabs selected:

  1. Right-click on any selected tab
  2. Choose from the context menu:
    • Copy Title - Copy titles of all selected tabs
    • Copy Link - Copy URLs of all selected tabs
    • Copy as Markdown - Copy selected tabs in Markdown format

The copied content will include all selected tabs, with each tab's information on a new line.

3. Group Tab Copying

Accessing Group Copy Features

Groups automatically organize related tabs, and you can copy information from entire groups:

  1. Right-click on any tab within a group
  2. Use the same copy options as single tabs
  3. Group-based copying will include group structure in the output

When copying from grouped tabs, the output includes:

  • Group titles as headers
  • Indented tab information under each group
  • Clear hierarchy structure

4. Window-wide Copying (Premium)

Window Header Menu

  1. Right-click on the window header area (the top bar of the VertiTab panel)
  2. Select "Copy Tabs Info" from the context menu
  3. Choose from the submenu:
    • Copy Tab Titles - Copy all tab titles in the window
    • Copy Tab URLs - Copy all tab URLs in the window
    • Copy Tabs as Markdown - Copy all tabs in Markdown format

This feature organizes the output by groups and maintains the hierarchical structure of your tabs.

Output Formats

Plain Text Format

  • Titles: One title per line
  • URLs: One URL per line
  • Simple and clean for basic sharing

Markdown Format

  • Links: [Title](URL) format
  • Group headers: ### Group Name
  • Hierarchical structure with indentation
  • Perfect for documentation and note-taking

Structured Format (for grouped content)

Troubleshooting

Copy not working?

  • Ensure you have the necessary Premium features for advanced options
  • Check that tabs aren't protected or system tabs
  • Verify clipboard permissions in your browser

Missing content in output?

  • Some tabs may have empty titles or restricted URLs
  • System tabs (chrome://, etc.) may not be copyable
  • Check if tabs are fully loaded before copying

Formatting issues?

  • Different applications may interpret Markdown differently
  • Special characters in titles may affect formatting
  • Consider using plain text format for maximum compatibility
