Open New Tab Next to Active Tab
Version: Available in v3.1.0 and later
This setting controls where newly opened tabs are positioned in your tab bar. By default, this option is disabled, and new tabs open at the end of the tab bar.
Location: Settings
→ Tabs
→ Tabs
→ Open new tab next to active tab
(disabled by default)
How it Works
When this option is enabled:
- New tabs will open immediately next to the currently active tab
- This applies to all methods of opening new tabs (keyboard shortcuts, context menu, clicking links in new tabs)
- The positioning behavior affects the browser's default tab opening behavior
When this option is disabled (default):
- New tabs continue to open at the end of the tab bar
- This maintains the standard browser behavior
Use Cases
This setting is useful when you want to:
- Keep related tabs grouped together
- Maintain context when opening new tabs from the current page
- Organize your workflow around a specific tab sequence
