Renaming Tabs
You can change the title of any tab to make it easier to identify and organize your work.
What is Tab Renaming?
Tab renaming lets you give a custom name to any tab. The new name shows in the VertiTab sidebar, while the original page title stays unchanged in the browser.
How to Rename a Tab
Right-click Method
- Right-click on any tab
- Select "Rename Tab"
- Type your new title
- Click Save
Keyboard Shortcut
- Click in the VertiTab sidebar first
- Press F2 to rename the selected tab
Dialog Options
- New Title - Type your custom name
- Remember Title for Site - Apply this name to similar pages from the same website
- Update Page Title - Also change the page title (not just VertiTab display)
Site Memory Feature
When you check "Remember Title for Site", VertiTab will automatically use your custom title for similar pages from the same website.
Matching Options
- Exact Match - Only applies to this specific page
- Contains Match - Applies to similar pages with different parameters (only available for URLs with ? in them)
This saves time if you often visit similar pages that you want to rename consistently.
Restoring Original Titles
To go back to the original title:
- Right-click on the renamed tab
- Select "Rename Tab"
- Click the "Restore" button
This will:
- Remove your custom title
- Delete any site memory rules for this page
- Return the tab to its original name
Keyboard Controls
- F2 - Open rename dialog (sidebar must be focused)
- Enter - Save changes
- Escape - Cancel
