Sorting Tabs
VertiTab provides multiple ways to organize and sort your tabs, from simple drag-and-drop arrangements to automatic sorting by various criteria. You can sort tabs temporarily for viewing or permanently reorganize them in your browser.
What is Tab Sorting?
Tab sorting allows you to organize your tabs in different orders based on criteria like title, URL, access time, or domain. VertiTab offers both temporary visual sorting (affects only the VertiTab display) and permanent sorting (changes the actual browser tab order).
1. Drag and Drop Sorting
Manual Tab Arrangement
The most direct way to sort tabs is by dragging and dropping them:
Important: For drag and drop sorting to work properly, you must set the view sorting to "Tab Index" in the toolbar first.
Single Tab Dragging:
- Click and drag any tab to a new position
- Release to place the tab in the new location
- Changes the actual browser tab order immediately
Multiple Tab Dragging:
- Select multiple tabs using:
- Click and Drag - Drag across multiple tabs to select a range
- Ctrl/⌘ + Click - Add individual tabs to your selection
- Shift + Click - Select a range of tabs
- Drag any selected tab to move all selected tabs together
- Maintains the relative order of selected tabs
